OKA TOKAT! KEYHOLE

This is a story told to me a long time ago. It happens in a large university known for its old buildings that were said to be from the pre-war era (refraining from mentioning the name here).

The old library of one of the buildings had an old painting of a woman, the image of which was said to walk the grounds at night.

One time a student requested permission to do an overnight research in the said library. Permission was granted by the administration. The story of the ghost from the painting was said to be known amongst the students, faculty and administration that time. As the young man entered, he presented his permit and inquired from the security guard:

"Tutoo ba yung multo diyan? Kasi mag-oovernight po ako sa library. Kailangan ko mag-research eh."

"Naku basta pag may narinig ka huwag mong papansinin, at huwag ka nalang lalabas ng library", said the Security Guard, obviously used to the strange noises from his nightly checks of the building.

The student proceeded and did his research. It must have been past midnight when he heard the sound of clanging chains on the floors of the building. They seemed to be nearing the library door entrance which at that time was closed.

The sound of the chains seemed to move closer and closer. Perhaps a skeptic, the student proceeded to move near the door. Remembering the advise of the guard not to leave the library no matter what, he bent down and took a peek into the old keyhole of the library door (perhaps it was the old doors where one could see through the other side if one peeped through the keyhole). He saw nothing but "red".

That morning with his research done, the young man passed the guard who smiled at him and said: "O kamusta research mo? Ala ka bang naramdaman diyan?" The guard said with a naughty smile on his face.

"Okay naman po. Tapos ko ang research. May mga narinig lang akong kumakalampag na mga kadena kagabi. Pero di ako lumabas nang library eh. Kaya wala naman akong nakita. Wala rin naman nagpakita."

"Ah..eh di okay", the guard replied.

Then the student asked: "Eh ano bang itsura nung multo diyan? Yun ba yung nasa painting? Talaga bang lumalabas yun?"

The guard answered him:"Basta puting-puti lahat ang itsura. Pera ang mata PULA"

The student walked away with goosebumps and hair standing on his arms. For he remembered the "red" peeping back at him as he peeped through the keyhole the night he heard the ghost of that haunted the old building.
