Antonello Joseph Sarte Perez (AJ Perez) died in a vehicular accident along McArthur Highway in Barangay San Juan, Tarlac.
Five were all aboard in the van where AJ was riding and four (including the actor) were all sleeping. Police authority reported that the van collided with a provincial bus Partas resulting to the injuries of the passengers inside and one casualty- AJ Perez. AJ was declared as dead on arrival by a hospital in Paniqui, Tarlac shortly after the accident around 12:10 a.m.
Police stated that the van carrying the victims tried to overtake a trailer truck when it collided with the incoming Partas bus.
"Nung makarating sa may Barangay San Julian, allegedly itong van ng ABS-CBN, um-overtake ng isang trailer. 'Yung pagka-overtake n'ya po, in the process, nag-alangan po siya. Tinamaan po niya itong Partas na nagresulta sa pagkapinsala nung laman ng van".
Reports said that AJ was sitting at the back of the driver’s seat and leaning on the left, the part of the van that collided with the bus. This caused the actor multiple head injuries and to his sudden death.
The group was heading back to Manila from Bangus Festival in Dagupan when the highway accident happened. AJ was with his dad in the van.
Before the incident, AJ was still able to post to his Twitter account thanking his fans who attended the show in Bangus Festival.
AJ was with Zaijan Jaranilla and Matt Evans during the Bangus Festival as organized by Kapamilya Caravan.
"Grabe po, overwhelming and sobrang thankful lang po talaga kay God for the opportunities He continuously gives me. Sana magustuhan ng mga taga Dagupan City yung hinanda naming numbers for them." AJ said.
The body of AJ will be laid in La Salle Greenhills starting this afternoon until on Tuesday April 19 lunch time.
AJ’s family also decided to donate his cornea to the blind singer Fatima Soriano.
His mourning mom have shared her worries for AJ.

"Napanood ko pa kagabi yung teaser ng MMK ni Aj, ndi ko alam kumba't ako bigla na lang naiyak, kaya tinawagan ko si Dadi. Tinanong ko si dadi, bat ang tagal nilang umuwi? Pauwi na raw sila from Dagupan, pero nag-aalala pa rn ako, d ko alam kumbakit balisa ako. Nag-Boracay pa si AJ nung first week ng April. Nag-alala na ko non dahil sila lang mga friends nya ang magkakasama. Tapos, eto, kasama niya pa ang daddy niya,… kaya you'll never know talaga pag aksidente".
